Golin pulls plug on its Cleveland shop

CLEVELAND: Golin/Harris is closing down its two-year-old Cleveland

office.

Patti Temple Rocks, who ran the office, has been offered a position in

Golin's Chicago office, as has one of the other five Cleveland

employees, said Keith Burton, GM in Chicago.

"After two years, Cleveland has not proven to be the growth market we

thought it could be," said Burton.

Opening the office initially allowed Golin to put resources closer to

longtime Cleveland client Glidden Paints. The office also picked up work

from Turner Broadcasting, handling PR for its Monday-night NBA

games.

Fees rose to the $1 million area in the first year of

operation.

Existing Cleveland accounts will now be serviced from Chicago, Burton

said.

Golin's decision leaves Fleishman-Hillard as the only multinational with

a presence. It bought a local firm in 1999.
