SAN DIEGO: Formula PR has been chosen to handle all PR duties for Sober Living by the Sea - a long-term-care facility for those suffering from drug and alcohol dependency, as well as eating disorders. The agency plans to focus on four areas: creating national awareness, interactive development, a student support program, and community relations.

The Sober Living by the Sea facility has been operating for 10 years, but it has not focused on publicity in the past. "Marketing a rehab center has never been as accepted as it is now,

said Michael Olguin, Formula PR president. "Now that it is, we are aggressively campaigning to position the client nationally."

Formula PR's research showed that the majority of people seeking a treatment facility do so online. As a result, the agency has created an e-newsletter and an online media center.

Particular attention is being paid to branding Teach, a program that helps college students get treatment while still attending school. Formula PR has partnered with Saddleback College in Orange County, CA and the University of California at Irvine to promote the cause.

Formula PR has also initiated an education campaign to ensure that the community understands the mission of Sober Living.

Formula PR has worked with rehabilitation centers for seven years. The Waismann Institute, a detox facility for opiate dependencies, is a long-standing Formula PR client.
