CHICAGO: Bacon's Information has acquired Media Pulse, a broadcast monitoring company that has been renamed Bacon's MediaPulse. The newly acquired company is being led by Media Pulse's founder and president John Stephens, while Joe Bernardo serves as president of Bacon's Information.

"Teaming up with Media Pulse provides us with the opportunity to fully round out our product offerings, explained Bernardo. "Now we can add broadcast services to our list of capabilities. Prior to the acquisition, Bacon's had no offering in the broadcast arena.

The two organizations established a relationship through News Data Services (NDS), a consortium of more than 40 broadcast monitoring services, of which Stephens serves as president. The partnering brings Bacon's into the NDS network, which covers 125 broadcast markets, and it makes Media Pulse part of Observer - Bacon's parent company.

"Being associated with such an established organization provides myself and my staff with a scope that never would have been plausible before," said Stephens.

Both company's sales forces will be completely integrated and will sell all product lines. "The only people more excited about this than me are my salespeople, said Stephens, who plans to add 10 new staff members to his team in the next few months.
