Hilton hires WSW to hype bar scene

LONDON: International hotel group Hilton has hired Weber Shandwick Worldwide to help lure customers to the bar scene at its flagship London hotels, the Park Lane and the Langham.

LONDON: International hotel group Hilton has hired Weber Shandwick Worldwide to help lure customers to the bar scene at its flagship London hotels, the Park Lane and the Langham.

The company, reeling from a worldwide slump in the travel and tourism sector, is keen to boost revenue at the hotels. WSW consumer director Sanjay Simani, who heads the account, reporting to Hilton UK and Ireland communications director Leslie McGibbon, said, "We aim to take these venues into the lifestyle press and weekend supplements."

Last month, the extent of the tourism slump on Hilton was revealed when it announced that profits at its hotels had fallen 23% to ?97.8m in the six months to the end of June.
