Boston-based Peter Arnold pitches tent in tough Texas PR market

DALLAS: Boston-area boutique Peter Arnold Associates (PAA) has bucked tech agencies' Texas-fleeing trend by opening an outpost in Frisco, a northern suburb of Dallas.

CEO Peter Arnold said his six-person office in Wellesley, MA has been serving a couple of Dallas-area businesses for more than three years.

Recent client referrals prompted him to put a few employees on the ground there. "I decided that's a wave I wanted to ride," Arnold said. "We're focusing on Texas because that's where the leads are coming from."

Plano's MindFlow Technologies, a supply-chain software company, is PAA's longest-running Texas client, but the firm recently signed up the Frisco Economic Development Corp. and iSoft, a Dallas-based maker of transaction software. Employees in Massachusetts and Texas also serve HandySoft, another relatively new software client in Vienna, VA. While PAA doesn't focus solely on tech, most of its Texas business falls into that category.

Hired as senior associates in the Texas office are Laurie Kline, former editor of Texas Technology and California Technology magazines, and Amy Kirkland, who worked in the Austin office that Niehaus Ryan Wong closed over a year ago. Arnold said he expects the Texas branch to match the home office in size by year's end.
