MONTVALE, NJ: Mercedes-Benz USA has created two new regional PR manager positions as it reorganizes responsibilities for regional PR and marketing.

Geno Effler, an auto-industry PR veteran who most recently had been PR director for Kia Motors America, has been hired as PR manager, West, for Mercedes. Effler will work out of Mercedes' Los Angeles office and oversee media relations and PR efforts in the Western states.

Jim Resnick, a Mercedes veteran who had been handling product and technology PR, has been named PR manager, East. He will continue to work out of the company's Montvale headquarters.

In the past, regional PR had been handled by Mercedes regional communications managers in its offices in LA, San Francisco, Chicago, Washington, DC, Jacksonville, FL, and New York. But much of their efforts were focused on marketing and event planning in their regions.

The new alignment gives Effler and Resnick media relations responsibilities.

They will report to Scott Keogh, GM of corporate communications.
