NEW YORK: Weber Shandwick Worldwide has hired Charles Perkins as leader of the corporate reputation practice for its New York office, a newly created position. Perkins most recently served as chair of the reputation management practice at Edelman.

The appointment marks Perkins' return to WSW's corporate practice. Several years ago, he worked at its predecessor firm, the Sawyer Miller Group.

Perkins worked on the corporate side from 1995 to 2000, when he was SVP and director of corporate communications at Prudential Securities. He also served as press secretary and communications advisor in local political campaigns, including Rudy Giuliani's two campaigns for mayor of New York.
