Six agencies in battle for Motorola Czech account

PRAGUE: Leading mobile phone manufacturer Motorola has asked six agencies to pitch for its corporate PR account for the Czech and Slovak Republics, in the latest installment of its pan-European agency review.

Euro RSCG, Eklektik Communications, Interel PR & Corporate Communications, Burson-Martseller and Hill & Knowlton are believed to be among the agencies pitching for the work, which will command a five-figure annual fee.

Motorola has used Interel to handle its corporate account in the Czech Republic since 1993. It has not previously employed an agency in the Slovak Republic, where it is seeking to increase sales.

It is looking for a single agency in both countries. Heidi Voss, Motorola's corporate communications manager for central and eastern Europe, confirmed the review. A decision is expected in December.

Motorola is in the process of conducting a review of all its European PR consultancies. Most recently, the company handed its German account to Fink & Fuchs (PRWeek, 26 June). Its lead agency for Europe, the Middle East and Africa is Hill & Knowlton.
