The post with the US Marine Band - known as The President's Own - was advertised in The Washington Post on November 22. According to the ad, duties include publicity campaigns for concerts, media relations, graphic design, conventions and 35mm photography. The salary range is $27,000-$31,000 'with excellent benefits/take home pay.'

The successful candidate will join a prestige musical organization: the Marine Band, founded 200 years ago, is the country's oldest professional musical organization.

Still interested? Note that the successful candidate will have to meet standards for age, height and weight and, in fact, have to join the Marine Corps. However, we were told, the individual would not have to undergo recruit training.
