NEW YORK: Former Edelman executive VP Elliot Sloane has quit the company and set up his own agency, Sloane & Co.

Sloane, who was executive VP and general manager of Edelman Financial Worldwide, has already gathered a roster of new clients for his New York-based agency. The agency will offer PR, investor relations, corporate communications and crisis counseling for private companies, financial institutions and trade associations.

Amongst others, Sloane & Co. will be working for the Magazine Publishers Association, Burnett Group, Integrated Interactive Marketing and Applied Research and Consulting. He could not yet reveal other clients for contractual reasons - he left Edelman only weeks ago.

'I always wanted to work for myself,' said Sloane. 'I had a wonderful opportunity and the timing was right.'

Prior to joining Edelman, Sloane was VP and director of financial media relations at Ruder Finn, where he worked for clients such as Prudential Securities, Citibank and AXA.

He has also worked at Morgen-Walke Associates, managing integrated investor and PR programs for a number of emerging companies. He began his career at Burson-Marsteller in the Financial Relations Group.

Edelman Financial Worldwide has yet to find a replacement for Sloane.
