The European, the first ever newspaper aiming to serve the whole continent, is to print its last issue this week. The title which also has limited distribution in the US, is owned by the Barclay Brothers who also have a stake in French daily newspaper, Le Monde. Andrew Neil, former editor of Rupert Murdoch-owned London Sunday Times was managing editor of the title. The Barclays announced they were seeking a buyer in September but found none for the title which has been in existence for eight years.
