WASHINGTON DC: After a two month review, Siemens Automotive has chosen Washington-based Stratacomm to provide Beltway representation and strategic counseling on automotive regulatory issues.

'We will act as their eyes and ears for regulatory issues,' principal Ron DeFore said.

Based in Auburn Hills, MI, the 10 year old Siemens Automotive unit previously handled the work with a five-person Washington staff, but director of communications Paul Klapproth told PRWeek that the work load became too much to handle as the company grew.

The in-house staff will continue to handle general business issues, while Stratacomm focuses on automotive issues such as emissions and air bags.

Klapproth said he heard pitches from four local firms including Stratacomm, whom he hadn't heard of before but who came recommended due to their knowledge of the auto industry and their contacts in Washington.
