Rapid expansion at A&E Networks calls for PR boost.

NEW YORK: Cable company A&E Networks is bolstering both its in-house public relations and external agency roster to keep up with the company's rapid expansion.

Vice president of public affairs Gary Morgenstein has hired a new number two, Juan Davila, to look after agency relationships.

Davila has been named the new director of public affairs and communications.

He joins after a four year stint at Nabisco International where he was most recently marketing communications manager.

His career includes setting up the PR divisions at both Young and Rubicam's Hispanic advertising group and Bravo. He also worked as a media consultant with phone company AT&T.

Davila will be responsible for the company's public relations agencies which include the New York firms, DK PR and MK PR.

A&E, which is owned by Hearst, ABC and NBC, has also recruited the services of London film and TV agency Dennis Davidson Associates for its international presence.
