Hillary tops polls for 1998

She could have hidden away in shame and embarrassment, but she chose instead to face her public more than ever before. And in a difficult situation, says a new survey of PR pros, Hillary Clinton did more than anybody else to enhance their reputation.

The Best & Worst 1998 PRWeek/Impulse Research Publicity Survey showed a landslide victory for Hillary Clinton in the Most Enhanced Person category, with a massive 75% share of the votes.

Apple was voted as the company that had done most to enhance its reputation in the survey of 571 PR professionals.

Baseball's record-breaking Mark McGwire and ancient astronaut John Glenn shared top spot in the Best Publicity category. NASA also won Best Publicity Stunt, while Bill Clinton's national TV performances during the Monica Lewinsky trial were deemed Worst Publicity Stunt. He also received the Worst Publicity overall.

Best Publicity for a product or company was won by Viagra. Microsoft got the Worst Publicity for the anti-trust suits.
