The strongest satellite TV company in the US, Hughes Electronics' Direct TV gained a boost last week when it agreed to acquire United States Satellite Broadcasting (USSB) for $1.3 billion. The California-based Hughes already cooperates with USSB on receiving equipment, though customers receive separate bills. The deal would now allow customers access to film services carried by USSB.
