Coors Brewing has created a new public relations position - vice president, corporate communications - and is in the midst of a search to fill the spot.

The responsibilites will include media relations, internal employee communications, financial communications, sales and marketing communications and crisis and issues management, said Aimee St. Clair, group manager, corporate communications.

The new position is a result of the brewery's international expansion and also its new focus on internal communications, St. Clair added.

Coors, based in Golden, CO, created a vice president's post to attract candidates with a broad PR background. The search will not be limited to the brewing industry, although experience in consumer goods would be a plus, St. Clair said.

Coors is the third largest brewery in the US, turning out 20.6 million barrels of beer, with net sales of $1.8 billion and net earnings of $68.3 million, all in 1997. It employs 5,875 people worldwide.
