Ihle, who joined Bear Creek in 1997, will oversee all PR, government

relations and community outreach efforts. He will report to company

president and CEO Bill Williams.

WASHINGTON, DC: IssueSphere has added ABC News veteran George Strait as

a senior counselor in its DC office. Strait, who was the primary ABC

health and medical correspondent for 15 years, will help the agency with

its non-profit and foundation work. He will continue to serve as the

chairman of the board for the Henry J. Kaiser Family Foundation.



GERMANTOWN, NY: Smith Mumford & Co. has opened an Albany office to

service its clients in the capital region, and added Marc Kaplan to

direct the firm’s PR practice. Kaplan, formerly communications

coordinator for the Medical Society of the State of New York, will

contribute to a variety of healthcare, business-to-business and

financial services accounts. Kaplan will continue to host two radio

shows every weekend.



NEW YORK: Target Video News (TVN) has entered into three partnerships to

make its VNRs and other products more widely available on the Web. TVN

has linked with business news portal Powerize.com, video site FasTV.com

and EastBay Technologies, whose MediaGrab! software enables users to

search for and download old video news clips.



PORTLAND, OR: Columbia Sportswear, one of the largest outdoor apparel

manufacturers in the world, has hired Angela Hult as PR manager.

Previously the communications manager for PacifiCorp’s IR group, Hult

will manage public affairs, community and media relations and corporate

communications.

appointed Manning Selvage & Lee to launch a major marketing program. The

account, valued between dollars 400,000 and dollars 600,000 in

annualized fee income, will target analysts, vendors and customers.

promoted Clarkson Hine to the new position of VP, corporate

communications.



Hine joined the company in August 1998 as director of

communications.
