denying reports that Buckingham Palace is pressuring the princess not to

exploit her royal connections.

According to newspaper reports, Sophie Wessex was due to visit the US,

but canceled because of Palace fears that the tour might fuel

accusations that the agency is trading on Sophie’s prominence.

Following criticism of her appearance in promotional photographs at the

Frankfurt motorfair, Sophie agreed to keep a lower profile (PRWeek,

Sept.

27). But a spokesperson for the agency told PRWeek that there were no

plans for a US trip and that the press reports were inaccurate.

British royals have historically been well-received in the US: Princess

Diana nearly moved to New York while Sarah Ferguson appears in Weight

Watchers commercials.
