WESTPORT, CT: Internet.com, which bills itself as ’the e-Business

and Internet Technology Network,’ has acquired online press release

distribution service Internet News Bureau (INB), a two-person company

located in Bend, OR.

Renee Menius, INB editor, said that while the acquisition initially

means little for agencies and corporations who distribute press releases

online, it potentially means more targeted distribution and greater

geographic reach for journalists and clients, as well as more marketing

power for INB.

The company is now working on a customized database that allows clients

to send press releases to more specialized lists. Menius said INB also

wants to broaden its international services and is currently in talks

with potential partners in France and Australia.

’One of the goals for Internet.com is to attract a huge community of

professionals and people who make a living in and around the Internet

space,’ said Internet.com chairman and CEO Alan Meckler.

Meckler said INB’s competitors include Internet Wire and URLwire, but

noted that most don’t have the ability to leverage a larger network for

promotions like it now does.
