DIARY: It’s no joke when Gore cracks wise

There’s nothing worse than being dull and uncharismatic, except perhaps being dull, uncharismatic and repetitive.

During the Al Gore/Bill Bradley debate two weeks ago, the Veep -

everyone’s favorite poster boy for rigidity - actually told a joke,

cracking wise about an HMO manager who is allowed into heaven, but only

for three days.

Get it?

The crowd loved the quip, which Gore billed as a ’recent story.’ But

reporters covering the event were rolling their eyes. Gore, you see, has

been telling the same joke for the last year.

We hope he either comes up with some new material - or, better, starts

trying to take credit for the Internet again.
