CHICAGO: Hoping to up the profile of its healthcare clients in

local and major media markets, Ruder Finn has launched a healthcare

media department in its Chicago office.

Bill Heineke, who had worked with healthcare clients in RF’s New York

office before moving to Chicago in 1998, will lead the new operation,

taking on the title of SVP and media director of RF/Chicago.

While most of RF’s healthcare work is based in the firm’s New York HQ,

Chicago head Howard Solomon said the new department was formed in the

Midwest to tap Heineke’s expertise. ’Bill is arguably the top healthcare

person in our agency as far as media strategy is concerned,’ he said.

Solomon added that being in the central time zone facilitates working

with clients on each coast.

To accommodate anticipated demand for the new department’s services, the

agency has hired Sarah Sherwood away from Edelman and Anne Brownsey from

The Financial Relations Board. More hires are expected early next

year.

Solomon predicted that the healthcare media department could add a

mid-six-figure sum to the Chicago office totals in 2000. Fee income will

likely top dollars 2 million this year, compared to about dollars 1.5

million in 1998.

In addition to the new role, Heineke will continue to oversee several of

the agency’s major healthcare accounts, including Home Access Health

Corp.
