WASHINGTON, DC: BET Holdings, a black-owned and operated media conglomerate, has added Michael Lewellen as VP of corporate communications. Lewellen, who joins the company today from his post as VP of media relations for Fox Sports Net, will serve as the lead spokesperson and PR strategist for BET’s entertainment properties, which include five TV networks and publishing, Internet and radio interests.

CHESTER, NJ: Grafica, a New Jersey-based integrated shop, has tabbed

Mark Devaney as director of public relations. Formerly a hi-tech PR

manager with Spector & Associates and a writing instructor at Rutgers

University, Devaney will oversee traditional and interactive PR

programs. He will continue in his role as a contributing columnist for

US Industry Today Magazine and channelseven.com.





NEW YORK: TV Guide has hired Lauren Snyder away from Edelman to serve as

its SVP of corporate communications, a newly created post. Snyder will

oversee all corporate PR, including branding initiatives for TV Guide’s

magazine group and online arm.





SAN FRANCISCO: Consumer tech boutique Connors Communications has picked

up two new West Coast clients: Snippets.com, a San Francisco-based

Internet software company, and online discussion forums company

Remarq.com.





WALNUT CREEK, CA: Leslie Howard, formerly VP of marketing and corporate

communications at New York Internet shop 24/7, has joined OpenAuto.com

as VP of marketing. The Walnut Creek, CA-based start-up serves as an

open market for online car buyers.





CHICAGO: The acquisition-happy Lighthouse Holdings has changed its name

to Lighthouse Global Network to better emphasize its global reach. The

company has also named Julian Hanson-Smith, a co-founder of the recently

acquired Financial Dynamics, as COO and senior operating manager in

Europe.





MINNEAPOLIS: Online training and education company wwwrrr.net has hired

Jean Golden as director of communications. Golden, who previously served

as corporate communications director for the Rainforest Cafe, will

oversee media relations, IR and advertising.





ALBANY: Shur-Gain USA, a supplier of nutrition technology, has tapped

Eric Mower & Associates for a marketing communications program.





EAST RUTHERFORD, NJ: The MWW Group has added 20-year industry veteran

Karen Barnett as an SVP. Barnett has previously led PR programs for

Procter & Gamble and Reebok.
