NEW YORK: Ogilvy Public Relations last week announced the promotion

of DC managing director Marcia Silverman to the new position of

president of the Americas.

Under the revised hierarchy, the directors of all US offices and new

Ogilvy affiliates in Latin America and Canada will report directly to

Silverman. Yet the change does not mark a radical departure for Ogilvy,

which has presidents in both Europe and Asia.

’Creating a stronger network between offices is our primary goal,’ said

Silverman.

She attributed the need for the new post to the growth of the agency,

which has doubled in size over the last two years and will likely

increase further via acquisitions and new business from existing

clients.

Another reason for Silverman’s promotion was her pivotal role in

expanding the firm’s DC office - which, with expected revenues of

dollars 21 million this year, is the largest in the Ogilvy chain. Steve

Dahlof, a 25-year PR veteran and creative director of the DC office,

will take over Silverman’s previous post.
