SEATTLE: MWW/Savitt has tapped Gretchen Bakamis as COO and SVP of

its growing Seattle office.

Bakamis, who spent more than five years as associate managing director

of Seattle agency Elgin Syferd (now owned by DDB Needham), officially

arrives at the firm on December 1, though she has already assisted in

two new business pitches this month.

In her new role, Bakamis will be responsible for running staffing and

daily operations for the 55-employee, dollars 6.5 million branch of the

East Coast-based MWW Group. She will also oversee the agency’s growing

public affairs division and assist with client service for the firm’s

Internet practice.

Since 1997, when she left Elgin Syferd to have a baby, Bakamis has been

running her own agency, Bcommunications. Before that, she ran a

mid-sized agency called Sharp-Hartwig.

Kathy Savitt opened the MWW/Savitt Seattle branch in 1993. Today, the

firm represents clients in a wide variety of industries, including the

Seattle Supersonics, Paul Allen’s Mercata and uBarter.com.

The agency also recently picked up four new dot-com clients:

Bluenile.com, ePodz.com, Rivals.com and Uniglobe.com.
