migrating eastward from Silicon Valley as well as bolster its IR

capabilities, Alexander Ogilvy formally unveiled its New York City

office last week.

Chris Clark, a former managing director of GCI Interactive who has been

installed as GM of the new outpost, said that New York has proved a

difficult market to crack for Silicon Valley-based agencies. ’A lot of

New York firms have opened successfully in the Valley, but few Valley

firms have opened successfully in New York. We’re hoping to reverse that

trend.’

In addition to providing support for Alexander Ogilvy clients in other

locations, the New York office has already won five of its own: Merrill

Lynch; flower retailer and marketer Gerald Stevens; Vstore.com; News

Digital Media, the interactive arm of News Corp. run by James Murdoch;

and Beauty.com.
