LOUISVILLE: Healthcare and life sciences giant Humana has named

Mark Mathis as its Green Bay, WI-based manager of media relations.

Mathis, formerly a general assignment reporter at an NBC affiliate in

Spokane, WA, has been charged with raising Humana’s visibility in the

media - a challenging task, given the competition among healthcare

companies for airtime and column inches.

According to Mathis, the Louisville-based Humana serves about 400,000

preferred provider organization (PPO) members in Wisconsin, primarily

concentrated in the Madison and Green Bay regions.

Mathis will report to director of corporate communications Dick Brown

and Green Bay operations chief Greg Rotherham.

Of the media relations team’s 10 members, four boast journalism

backgrounds. Mathis decided to relocate to Green Bay after his fiancee,

also a television journalist, accepted a position as a reporter for a

local ABC affiliate.
