Ineos external affairs director Tom Crotty has expanded Media Zoo’s UK media relations and reputation management brief to include communicating with trade organisations and governments in the US and Germany, which are key markets for Ineos.
"Our goal is to communicate INEOS’s belief in the importance of manufacturing for successful economies, and to highlight the issues of high energy prices to industry," said Media Zoo senior account director Andrew McLachlan.
The agency handled media relations and internal communications for Ineos during the highly charged industrial dispute about cost cuts, which the company claimed were necessary to keep open its Grangemouth refinery in Scotland.
This saw it come under fire from the Unite union, which represented workers who were at risk of losing their jobs if Ineos had chosen to close the site.
After a climb-down from Unite, the future of the site was secured and Ineos is constructing a new 'cracker' facility to process shale gas imported from America.
