Pinterest brings in Brands2Life to boost UK profile

Social picture site Pinterest has appointed Brands2Life as part of a brief to expand its user base among UK consumers, following a competitive review.

The hire follows a ramping up of activity for the social media platform that started with the appointment of Sarah Bush as its first country manager in the UK.

She joined the platform from pre-owned luxury goods site Vestiaire Collective and has been charged with overseeing the UK version of the Pin It Forward blogging campaign, which has enlisted local bloggers.

Pinterest now claims more than one million posts are made in the UK each day, with a 60 per cent return rate from users on a monthly basis.

The site has garnered controversy mainly due to questions arising from copyright ambiguity. Pinterest has moved to quash this by cancelling service stipulations that allowed the site to sell user information and pictures to third parties.

In the US, Pinterest's PR is handled by the Outcast Agency, which was appointed to the brief in March last year.

Brands2Life confirmed its appointment to the Pinterest brief, but did not provide further details.
