Conservative MP Mark Pritchard to fight Telegraph allegations

Conservative MP Mark Pritchard has referred himself to the Parliamentary Commissioner for Standards after The Daily Telegraph alleged he offered to use his political contacts to set up business deals with foreign officials and ministers.

Pritchard has said the allegations are false and he is consulting his lawyers.

In an undercover investigation by the newspaper, a journalist posed as a foreign businessman and approached Pritchard while he was travelling in Malta.

The Telegraph has published claims that Pritchard suggested the reporter should invest £10m in a group of boutique hotels in Albania and that he asked to be paid £3,000 a month for his consultancy services as well as 3 per cent of any deal.

Pritchard stressed he would not lobby on behalf of clients, according to the newspaper.
