The Economic Development team at Hampshire County Council is looking for two agencies to cover the new briefs.

The work is worth up to a combined £180,000 over three years, with agencies given until 29 November to submit proposals.

David Fletcher, assistant director for economic development, said the new briefs were about "a much more proactive approach to raising the profile of Hampshire in all aspects. We have to grow our economy."

Pointing to the fact that tourism creates more than 10 per cent of employment in the county he said: "The focus will be on emphasising the fact you have the full spectrum of characteristics in this county, from coastlines to cultural visitor destinations as well as two national parks."

The comms work to drive inward investment, meanwhile, will include a focus on regional business strengths.

These encompass the aerospace industry, with the Farnborough Air Show covered in both tourism and investment briefs, as well as the marine sector.

Pointing to the presence of Axa and Zurich's headquarters in Hampshire, Fletcher also highlighted financial services as being another sector that would be included in messaging.
