Royall will be closely involved with handling communications around a consultation on NHS services which could see parts of the hospitals close in 2017.
The ‘Better Services Better Value’ review is being led by the Croydon, Kingston, Merton, Richmond, Sutton, Wandsworth and Surrey Downs clinical commissioning groups.
Royall will handle all of the Trust’s communications including working with the media and hospital staff as well as active community campaigning around the consultation.
She started her career at the London Ambulance Service and is now rejoining the NHS after a decade in central government roles at the Department of Health, the Cabinet Office and most recently at HMRC as head of business marketing and communication, including its campaign to tackle tax avoidance and communications about the Budget.
She replaces Anthony Tiernan, who has moved to West Hertfordshire Hospitals NHS Trust as director of corporate affairs and communications after five years in the role.
