GR Spada will be led by Ellen Gracey, the former pensions and investments journalist who co-founded GR Communications in 1989, alongside fellow team director James Poole.
The new division will work alongside Spada’s existing 27-strong team and will look to grow market share in the asset management, investment and actuarial consulting and related sectors.
Gavin Ingham Brooke, chief executive of Spada, said: ‘We have known and admired GR Communications for many years.
‘This is a very important step in Spada’s journey to bring together interrelated specialist niches within the legal, financial services, pensions, insurance, property, construction, energy, and private equity markets. The North American clientele of GR Spada also helps flesh out our overseas network.’
Ingham Brooke said that the move reflected the agency’s desire to continue its rapid growth – Spada grew by 20 per cent in 2012 – and suggested that further deals are in the pipeline to expand the agency’s offering.
Gracey said: ‘We have been in contact with a number of firms, but Spada stood out and is a perfect fit for us as a team and more importantly, our clients.
‘The resources that Spada has will mean we can actively compete in a much broader market. I am personally thrilled to be part of such an energetic, dynamic firm and all of the team are delighted to be joining our new colleagues in Holborn.’
GR’s existing client portfolio includes a number of major UK and US institutional and wholesale asset managers, trade associations, trustees and household name pension funds.
