LamCo, which launched earlier this month and offers strategic help and guidance to councils, has been appointed by Derbyshire County Council.
Collaborating with specialist social marketing consultancy The Campaign Company, LamCo’s first task will be to lead work on providing insight on Derbyshire residents.
Lambeth Council director of campaigns and comms Julian Ellerby said that LamCo would draw from the current expertise of his team for the new venture. He added that one area on which LamCo was likely to focus would be to link politics with campaigning.
‘What often happens is you have politicians wanting one thing and the organisation wanting another, and when comms can bring the two together it can have real strength,’ said Ellerby. ‘It can then move from being a passive tool into something that influences debates.’
Lambeth Council CEO Derrick Anderson said: ‘LamCo will create extra income for us, which will provide more funding for services in a time of huge financial pressures. It will also aid the positioning of Lambeth as a hub for new ideas from across the country as we build strong partnerships with other authorities.’
