Batelaan is joining Edelman Brussels as a director and lead for the agency’s energy and industrials practice.

Batelaan has been with SSE for over four years, managing its EU public affairs work and strengthening its presence in Brussels.

Previously he has worked as a public affairs consultant for Public Matters in the Netherlands in areas as diverse as telecoms, energy and retail, and as a policy advisor to the Dutch Social Democratic Party.

Martin Porter, general manager of Edelman Brussels and chair of its European public affairs practice, praised Batelaan’s ‘extensive experience’.
