The week in global PR

Google Lunar XPRIZE, a $30m (£19.5m) space exploration competition, has picked Finn Partners as its retained PR agency.

Sail Marketing & Communications has been appointed as P&G's retained agency in Myanmar.

The World Economic Forum has partnered with Ketchum and the US Ad Council to launch an online platform providing organisations with case studies of public service campaigns. The project, called Creative for Good, includes more than 60 global campaigns addressing social issues such as health, education and the environment.

Havas PR North America has created Havas Peaks, an executive branding service, to help C-suite professionals develop their own personal leadership brands.

Microsoft Canada has drafted in Veritas as its retained PR agency, after a review. High Road Communications had served as Microsoft Canada's agency for the past 12 years.

The Philadelphia Zoo has brought in Devine + Partners for several projects that are part of an overall transformation plan.

W2O Group has appointed Annalise Coady as head of its global technology practice. Coady, who is based in London, was most recently interim president of FleishmanHillard-owned High Road Communications.

Bill Pendergast, a longtime FleishmanHillard executive, has joined Brunswick Group as a partner. He is based in Dallas.

The week in healthcare

TotalMobile, a software developer, has appointed specialist healthcare agency Highland Marketing to support its launch in the UK. Having identified opportunities for its App Platform software in the NHS, TotalMobile has hired the agency to raise its profile, as well as promoting the software as the 'solution of choice' among NHS trusts.

Fletchers Solicitors has launched a social media campaign that debates whether it is ethical to sue the NHS and private health services. The campaign will ask the general public for their views on taking legal action against health services through a poll conducted on the solicitors' Facebook page. The debate forms part of a wider national campaign tailored specifically to highlight the firm's strength in supporting people suffering medical negligence and severe personal injury.

The Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity is to launch Lions Health next year. The two-day independent festival and awards will celebrate creative comms in healthcare, wellness and sustainability. It will take place in the Palais des Festivals, before the 2014 Cannes Lions starts on 15 June.

The public sector week

Hackney Council deputy head of comms Emma Rudd is set to join Serco, the international outsourcing firm. She will start her role as corporate media comms manager in late July, having worked at Hackney since 2007.

LGComms will run the next events in its Future Leaders programme on 8 and 9 July. The scheme will see specially selected public sector PR professionals given tips and training at Leeds Business School.

Manchester City Council has urged Network Rail to continue to talk to residents and businesses as plans are developed for a key rail link across the city centre between Piccadilly and Victoria stations.

Julie Ridge has been appointed director of external relations at Bedford Modern School. Ridge, who joins the school following the departure of Michelle Upton, is currently head of comms and engagement for Health Education East of England. Ridge starts on 19 August.

The week in the City

2 Sisters Food Group, the owner of Fox's Biscuits and Goodfella's Pizza, has appointed Nick Murray as head of comms. Previously, he was a consultant at FSTE 250 firm Electrocomponents and head of internal comms at Lloydspharmacy. Murray takes over from Andrew Hanson, who has left after five years to join Victrex as group head of comms and investor relations.

Brunswick led comms for the London Stock Exchange listing of Al Noor Hospitals Group last week. The Abu Dhabi-based healthcare group raised £221m in the first listing of a company from the United Arab Emirates this year.

FieldHouse Associates has been called in by Paddle and Boost Communications to manage their PR. Paddle is a payments start-up looking to create mobile payment systems. Boost Communications was established in Norway in 2000 to supply mobile marketing and mobile advertising solutions and services for brands, publishers and agencies. The company opened its UK office earlier this year.

Seafish, the representative body of the seafood industry, has appointed Rob Bruce to the role of corporate relations director. Bruce, currently head of global PR for alcoholic beverage firm Whyte & Mackay, will join on 1 July, reporting to CEO Paul Williams.

The week in lobbying

Kellogg's has called in Pagefield to provide public affairs advice and help implement its 'Give A Child A Breakfast' campaign. It also wants to mark the 75th anniversary of its manufacturing presence in the UK. The Pagefield team, reporting to Kellogg's corporate affairs director Paul Wheeler, will be led by partner Lucy Burns, with support from consultant Tom Bage and executives David Badestock and Rory Cronin.

The Whitehouse Consultancy has promoted Katarzyna Wilk from consultant to senior consultant. Wilk will continue to lead Whitehouse's engagement with European institutions on behalf of clients, focusing particularly on the health and nutrition sectors. The agency has also hired George Paterson as a monitoring and research executive.

Wil Barber has rejoined Hanover from Ofgem, where he was an external relations officer and a policy analyst working on gas security issues and in their parliamentary relations team. He will work as a consultant within Hanover's energy and environment practice.

Cicero is hosting a roundtable event with Mark Littlewood, director-general of the Institute of Economic Affairs, on 4 July, to discuss changing the debate on financial regulation and risk.
