Eleven UK agencies shortlisted for Cannes PR Lions

Eleven UK agencies have been shortlisted in the PR Lions category at this year's Cannes International Festival of Creativity.

Weber Shandwick and Unity have both been shortlisted in three categories each – Weber for its work with EDF Energy and Design and Technology in Schools, and Unity for its ‘Shwopping’ campaign for Marks & Spencer.

Ad agency Cheil has also been shortlisted in three categories, for its work with Samsung, which The Red Consultancy was also involved in.

The Brooklyn Brothers, Edelman and Ketchum (as part of OneVoiceConnect, the Omnicom group of agencies servicing Philips), picked up two shortlist spots each.

Clarion Communications, Golden Goose PR, Salt and Hill+Knowlton Strategies have also been shortlisted, along with ad agency BMB.

Outside the UK, FleishmanHillard Dublin picked up a place on the shortlist for its Paralympics medal ceremony campaign for P&G.

Nancy Seliger, PR Lions judge and executive vice-president, senior partner, global client relations at FleishmanHillard, commented on the judging: 'As thousands from around the world descend on Cannes for the premier global celebration of creativity, 19 judging panellists and one jury president have been here for days reviewing more than 800 entries for the PR Lions, culled from nearly 1,300.

'The 2013 submissions have been remarkable, and are proof that the creative bar continues to rise. Technology has been a near-constant across campaigns, driving new creative spark. Use of original videos and other branded content to fuel engagement and sharing has also been a phenomenon here.'

The PR Lions winners will be announced at an awards ceremony to be held tonight at the Palais des Festivals in Cannes.
