Powell joined earlier this month and is working alongside head of corporate and public affairs Ian Bundred to lead the strategic direction and growth of the 15-strong practice.

‘His appointment means we can build our brand reputation specialism and drive influence at scale for some of the world’s biggest brands,’ Bundred said.

Powell was a director of Bell Pottinger Business & Brand for three years and his previous career includes stints in the CBI press office and as a news editor for the Daily Mail.

He said: ‘Brand and reputation should be at the top of every organisation's watch-list and Ogilvy PR's insights, ideas, reach and scale mean it is ideally placed to provide brilliant strategic counsel and delivery around the world.’
