During the meeting, staff from the two industry bodies will explore the idea of producing a joint code of conduct.

The news follows the most recent instalment of PRWeek TV, in which CIPR president Sue Wolstenholme and PRCA director-general Francis Ingham agreed to produce a film to explain PR's power to businesses.

The film will be based on a video that was produced in the 1990s by the then IPR and PRCA called Action Speaks Louder Than Words.

The two bodies have already been working closely together on the issue of industry diversity and careers. On PRWeek TV, both Wolstenholme and Ingham agreed it was important to speak 'with one voice'.

Ingham said: 'I want us to be respected, not loved ... We need to convince the people who sign the cheques of the value we bring.'

Wolstenholme agreed: 'We need to focus on the things that prove our worth and speak with one voice.'
