The APS represents a large number of professionals required to be responsible for on-site safety for building projects under the current Construction, Design and Management regulations.
It is concerned the Health & Safety Executive will propose changes to regulations that could reduce consumer protection and lead to construction projects without a competent person in charge of safety.
The project, which the agency won after a pitch, will be led by associate director Tim Morris.
The agency’s brief also includes engaging the rest of the building industry to explain APS’ position.
It will report to APS head of corporate affairs James Ritchie.
