London & Partners plots post-Olympic course as team expands

The promotional body for London is preparing a three-year post-Olympic global strategy to entice businesses, visitors and students to the city after making two hires in its comms team.

London & Partners’ director of strategy, brand and communication Chris Gottlieb said the strategy was intended to generate £250m of economic benefit to London through foreign direct investment, people coming to the UK to study, visitors, and events and conferences. It will first focus on identifying the most valuable audiences to the capital and targeting them accordingly.

The body will capitalise on key events hosted in the capital such as the Tour de France in 2014 and the European Society of Cardiology conference, which will be held in 2015 and see 35,000 medical professionals descend on the city.

Gottlieb is keen to follow the success of Mayor Boris Johnson’s 2012 business programme and ‘create jobs for London’. The Mayor’s programme created 5,000 jobs.

Gottlieb has expanded his comms team by bringing in Christina Moreton in the newly created role of head of external relations and Tamzen Isacsson as head of media and PR. Both report to Gottlieb.

Moreton joins from boutique growth and innovation consultancy The Foundation, with previous experience at the COI. She will liaise with London & Partners’ current stakeholders across businesses, government departments and London boroughs, and bring in new partners.

Isacsson joins in June and will be responsible for all media relations and external comms functions. She was previously the head of broadcast media at the Nobel Foundation’s media company, and prior to this worked as a journalist for 10 years.
