Financial Times' Ben Fenton to launch Edelman's creative arm

The former chief media correspondent of the Financial Times, Ben Fenton, has been enticed by Edelman to launch a creative industries offering in London.

Fenton led the FT's coverage of the phone-hacking scandal and Leveson Inquiry, more recently establishing the paper's live newsdesk operation before leaving in March. Before the FT, Fenton served as chief reporter for The Daily Telegraph, including a stint in the US as its Washington correspondent.

He joins Edelman's corporate practice in London to bring together its work in the media and creative sector under a distinct offering.

He will report to Alex Bigg, MD of Edelman's corporate and financial practice, who explained: 'The creative industries represent seven per cent of the UK economy and London is a world-class centre for the sector. Fenton brings a wealth of experience in this field and complements the high calibre of consultants within the team.' He added that Fenton would help drive content partnerships on behalf of the agency's clients.

Fenton said: 'I can't wait to start work alongside (UK CEO) Ed Williams, Alex Bigg and the rest of the Edelman team. I hope I can bring value to existing clients in the creative industries, as well as spreading the word to new ones.'
