Wylie joins as director of international development, working alongside Porta chairman and former Citigate Dewe Rogerson founder David Wright to expand the group’s international network, particularly Newgate Communications’ financial, corporate and public affairs footprint.
Wylie left Kreab Gavin Anderson in September last year as part of a raft of leadership changes at the agency after senior execs failed to pull off an MBO.
Wylie, himself a former Citigate MD, said that Porta has ‘extremely exciting ambitions to become a leading global comms and marketing advisor in a short period of time’.
He added: ‘They have already brought together a strong advisory team offering the multi-discipline services that clients will demand in the future.’
Wright commented: ‘Fergus comes with superb contacts across multiple geographies and has advised clients on their cross border communications requirements for over two decades.
‘Our strategy is to build a global communications and marketing group and Fergus’ experience will enable us to accelerate our plans and footprint significantly.’
Fellow KGA departee Richard Barton joined Newgate in January to open its first Asian business in Hong Kong.
