Cicero Group has launched a joint venture with political monitoring firm Yatterbox to help financial services firms track social media activity across UK politics.

The new offering will enable the financial services industry to track and analyse the social media activity of the UK Parliament, House of Lords members, MEPs, government departments, think-tanks and key political journalists.

The venture is designed to enable financial companies to keep on top of issues the community is discussing; including identifying issues of interest to an organisation and highlighting key stakeholders.

A number of Yatterbox staff have now integrated with the Cicero Digital team at Cicero's London offices.

Jeremy Swan, chief executive of Cicero Group, commented: 'Politicians are increasingly discussing policy issues online and it is therefore imperative that companies monitor this information and are able to navigate and analyse the complexities of the digital policy landscape.'

Cicero said that around 65 per cent of UK politicians have a social media presence, including the Chancellor George Osborne, who signed up to Twitter in the days before his Budget.
