Dan Connell issued an apology for 'any confusion' around the pitch in relation to Jaguar Academy.
His words followed complaints that no PR agency had been picked for the brief. Instead PR will be managed within the global brand PR team for the forseeable future.
A number of senior agency figures expressed frustration to PRWeek, one labelling the process 'an absolute joke'.
Connell said: 'The full decision on whether we had one agency or a number had not been taken and it is still part of the review process, which is a complete business review of the academy itself.'
The Jaguar Academy gives young people the chance to work with sports stars such as Jessica Ennis.
