Its launch follows Oates being made redundant by Betfair amid a slew of other departures from the betting exchange, as revealed by PRWeek.
He explained that his new business would involve a small network of 'half-a-dozen' consultants and focus both on reputation management and internal comms.
'My heritage from Betfair is very tech focused and as such the company will be targeting young, high growth tech start-ups and companies. That is why I am basing the agency in Tech City, so I will be working among clients where you have a hugely vibrant scene that is not particularly well served at the moment. We will be doing everything from launching things through to financial work.'
Oates said the new venture would be project-based only, adding that 'the retained model is becoming prehistoric'.
Before joining Betfair as director of comms in late 2010, Oates was business media relations manager at SABMiller and he had also worked at Luther Pendragon.
