August.One wins UK consumer and B2B Whirlpool job

Domestic utility company Whirlpool UK has taken on August.One

Communications to handle UK consumer and B2B PR for the brand.



The account was won following a pitch involving incumbent Key

Communications and one other agency. Work on the account starts in

January.



Recently-recruited international consumer director Sally Hetherington

leads the account for August.One, reporting to Whirlpool UK brand

manager Ray Isted.



The appointment marks a stepping up of PR for the brand. Hetherington

said: 'Whirlpool has not done a huge amount with communications as it is

still a relatively young company in the UK compared to other white goods

brands.'



The agency will focus on consumer work, also undertaking some trade

PR.



The account is understood to be worth a six-figure sum, although final

details of the fees are under negotiation.
