Worldcom Europe gets set to launch awareness drive

Worldcom Europe - an association for independent PR firms - is this

week set to unveil a strategy to build awareness of its services and

initiatives.

The organisation, which has 20 European members and 92 global

affiliates, said it also planned to bring in quality standard procedures

for new recruits, due to be announced at its members meeting this

week.

The London-based group was also due to discuss how independent PR

consultancies were better placed in the current economic climate over

their larger rivals.

A Worldcom Europe spokesman said independent firms were run by owner

bosses with a stronger client/consultancy relationship, while large

agencies tend to cut back and reduce overheads quickly.

'Most of our members can maintain a strong team in difficult times and

keep a long-term view, so the independent sector is in a much stronger

position,' said the spokesman.
