Byrne appointed to media role as Orange boosts PR

Orange has boosted its global corporate communications team to cope

with the group's international expansion.

Niamh Byrne joins the group in the newly created post of group head of

media relations, with a remit to oversee all Orange's international

PR.

She was formerly head of global marketing and PR at c-quential, Arthur D

Little's management consultancy.

Byrne's appointment coincides with the promotion of Brigid Burnham, who

takes on the newly created role of group head of CSR within Orange's

five-strong senior corp comms management team.

Burnham previously oversaw all Orange UK's community affairs activities

- a role now taken by Orange PRO Simon Davies.

Both Burnham and Byrne report to Denise Lewis, group director of

corporate affairs.

Lewis said: 'The past 12 months have seen our global controlled customer

base grow over 40 per cent to 37 million people. It is vital we have a

corporate communications function to support this expansion.'
