PUBLIC SECTOR: Tatchell to launch worldwide human rights charity fund

Veteran gay rights activist Peter Tatchell is to launch a fresh

campaign strategy next year.

Tatchell is keen to veer away from concentrating on his high-profile gay

rights campaigns and broaden his work to include all global human rights

issues.

The decision comes as a charity, to be called the Peter Tatchell Human

Rights Fund, launches in January to raise cash for human rights

campaigners worldwide.

PR consultant Adrian Gillan, hired this week to handle media relations

for the charity, said: 'Peter is keen to reposition himself. He wants to

look at the bigger picture in terms of human rights.'

Although set up in his name, Tatchell is independent of the charity.

It will launch at an event on 25 January to celebrate Tatchell's 50th

birthday.
