Firefly and Shine make shortlist for CBI talent awards

Two PR agencies - Firefly and Shine Communications - have been

selected as finalists in the Real Business/CBI Growing Business Awards,

given each year to businesses in recognition of entrepreneurial

talent.

Firefly is a finalist for the award of Innovative Company of the Year,

while Shine is a finalist in the Most Promising Young Company of the

Year award. Both are up against three finalists from outside the

industry and will find out if they have won at a presentation next month

at which Microsoft chairman Bill Gates will be the keynote speaker.

An awards spokesperson said Firefly had been chosen in recognition of

the company's HR and training. Shine was chosen because it had exceeded

its start-up business plan and 'looked to be on a good footing'.

Companies self-nominate but a shortlist is then formed by the magazine

and from this the judges, including CBI director-general Digby Jones,

select the finalists and winner.
